# Status Report

A simplified version of the Status Report Skill from Contexta. Edit it to match the way your team reports.

## When to use this skill

Use it when someone shares notes, meeting minutes or task lists for a project and asks for the status report.

## What you need

- The project notes since the last report
- The previous report, if there is one
- The audience for the report (for example the client sponsor or the project team)

If the notes or the audience are missing, ask for them before you start.

## How to prepare the report

1. Read all of the notes before writing anything.
2. List what moved forward since the last report. Name the owner for each item when the notes give one.
3. Pull out decisions that were made, with the date and who made them.
4. Identify current risks or blockers and what would resolve them.
5. Agree the next actions, each with an owner and a due date where the notes give one.

## Output

Use these headings, in this order:

- **Progress**
- **Decisions**
- **Risks and blockers**
- **Next actions**

Keep each point to one or two sentences. Write for the stated audience.

## Checks before finishing

- Do not invent owners, dates or decisions. Mark anything missing as "To confirm".
- Every risk should say what it affects.
- Every next action should have an owner, or be marked "Owner to confirm".
