Contexta

Get Started With Contexta.

Create a skill, start your free workspace and connect the AI tools you use. Find the step you need below.

Five Steps to Your First Workspace.

  • 01Create a Skill

Describe a task you repeat, or bring a skill you already have. The skill builder helps you shape it, and you can download the result without an account.

  • 02Start a Free Workspace

Create your free Individual workspace and save your skill to it. No card is needed.

  • 03Connect Your AI

Add Contexta to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or another supported AI product, using the connection URL shown in your dashboard. Sign in with the same email you use for Contexta.

  • 04Set Up Your Company Context and Knowledge Base

Ask your AI to set up Contexta. Setup checks the connection and sets out your knowledge-base folders, such as Incoming, SOPs and Decisions, in your space’s home folder in SharePoint or Google Drive. Then add your terminology and conventions.

  • 05Organise Your Spaces

Use spaces to keep skills and conventions in the right place. Your personal space comes first; team plans add a company space and team spaces. Spaces route work to the right home folder. They don’t change who can open a file.

Connect Your AI.

Each AI product has its own menus. Sign in to your Contexta dashboard first and use the connection URL shown there. Sign in with the same email you use for Contexta when your AI asks you to authorise the connection. You don’t need an API key.

  • Claude Cowork

Download the Contexta plugin from your dashboard. In Claude, open Settings, then Plugins, and upload it. Authorise Contexta in the plugin’s Connectors section, then paste the setup prompt from your dashboard into a new Cowork chat. Admins can install the plugin for their whole Claude organisation where Claude supports it.

  • Claude Code

Upload the Contexta plugin under Plugins and add the connection URL from your dashboard. Open MCP, select contexta and complete the browser sign-in. When contexta shows as connected, ask Claude to set up Contexta. Your Claude Code login and your Contexta sign-in are separate.

  • ChatGPT Desktop

Open Settings, then Plugins, then MCPs, and add a server. Choose Streamable HTTP, paste your connection URL, set authentication to OAuth, leave the other fields blank and save. Add the contexta and setup skills from your dashboard, then run the setup prompt.

  • ChatGPT on the Web

Turn on Developer Mode in Settings. It needs a paid plan, and a workspace admin may need to allow it. Open Plugins, select + next to Search plugins, paste your connection URL, set authentication to OAuth and sign in. Add the contexta and setup skills on the Skills tab, then turn on Contexta in a new chat and run the setup prompt.

  • Cursor and Other MCP Clients

Add a remote MCP server named contexta with your connection URL, using Streamable HTTP and OAuth. If your client only supports local servers, you may need a bridge such as mcp-remote.

  • Grok and GrokBot

In Grok, add a custom connector at grok.com/connectors, name it Contexta, paste your connection URL and sign in. For GrokBot, copy the GrokBot prompt from your dashboard and send it as a new message. GrokBot adds Contexta on its own computer, so don’t send that prompt to grok.com.

Check Your Connection.

In a new chat, ask your AI to call contexta_capabilities. It should reply with your organisation name and the skills and features available to you.

In Claude Cowork, the contexta and setup skills should also appear once the plugin is installed. In Claude Code, the MCP list should show contexta as connected.

Fix Common Problems.

  • Contexta Shows as Disconnected

Reconnect Contexta in your AI product’s connector or MCP settings and sign in again. Then start a new chat and ask your AI to call contexta_capabilities.

  • The Connection Check Fails

Make sure you used the connection URL shown in your dashboard, then reconnect and try again in a new chat.

  • Your One-Time Code Didn’t Work

Codes expire quickly. Request a new one and enter it promptly. If the email is slow, check your spam folder.

  • You’re Signed in but No Workspace Appears

Your email isn’t linked to a workspace yet. Ask your admin to invite you or add your email domain.

  • Claude Code Still Asks You to Authenticate

That’s expected, because Claude Code and Contexta use separate sign-ins. Open MCP, select contexta and complete the browser sign-in. If the Code app panel never asks you to authorise, connect from Claude Code in a terminal.

  • You Can’t Find Developer Mode in ChatGPT

Developer Mode is generally limited to paid plans. On Business or Enterprise, a workspace admin may need to allow it.

  • You Can’t See a Skill

Ask your admin to check your access.

  • The Plugin Download Failed

Check you’re still signed in, then try again. If it still fails, try another browser or turn off extensions that block downloads.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I sign in?

Use Sign in in the site navigation. If you’re creating your first workspace, choose Start free instead. Contexta emails you a one-time code, so there’s no password to remember.

Do I need an API key to connect Contexta?

No. Contexta connects through OAuth. Sign in with the same email you use for Contexta when your AI asks you to authorise the connection, and don’t put API keys in your AI product’s settings.

Which connection URL should I use?

Use the connection URL shown in your Contexta dashboard after you sign in, rather than a URL from another source. The dashboard always shows the right one for your workspace.

How do I know Contexta is connected?

In a new chat, ask your AI to call contexta_capabilities. If it replies with your organisation name and the skills available to you, the connection is working. If not, reconnect Contexta in your AI product’s settings and try again.

My skill downloaded but doesn’t appear in Contexta. What should I do?

Downloading saves a file to your device. To keep the result in Contexta, choose Save to my free workspace in the builder, then sign in or create an account.

What should I include in a support request?

Include the AI product you use, the step you were taking and the error message you saw. Leave out passwords, API keys and confidential documents.
